OUR ANNUAL MLK CELEBRATION

A visionary and powerful leader of the Civil Rights Movement, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s beliefs, ideas and contributions to society are celebrated on the third Monday of January every year. The Black Cultural Council of Odessa organizes an annual MLK celebration in Odessa to promote Dr. King’s legacy.

The Black Cultural Council of Odessa is proud to support the continuing legacy of African American scholars through our scholarship program. Every year we award deserving African American students indispensable funding to help build their future and contribute to the community.

JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION

The BCCO organizes the largest Juneteenth celebration in Texas! Families, musicians, comedians and other special guests travel to Odessa for our renowned celebration that honors the Texas slaves who finally learned of their emancipation. The celebration includes 3 days of great activities, including musical performances, delicious food, multicultural events, an annual basketball tournament, fun activities for children, a parade and much more!
